Lightworks, our solera Merlot, now has 4 vintages in it (2014-2017), and is showing ever greater complexity.  The texture in particular is developing a savory depth on the palate that can only come from long barrel aging.  Aromatically, in addition to the expected dried herbs and red fruit, it’s taking on a nori/sea salt quality that is unlike any Merlot we’ve ever had. Slightly more produced this bottling than last (80 cases), but still minuscule. Fortunately, we’ll have a bit more fruit in ‘18! Additions: 20ppm SO2 at bottling and a 15ppm SO2 add once after malolactic in barrel. Vineyard (Coquelicot) is certified organic. Unfined/Unfiltered.
